Convicted of murder in one of the Molly Maguires cases (the 1862 killing of Frank B. Langdon during a mine labor dispute, according to trial evidence presented). Sentenced to death; hanged December 1, 1878 at Mauch Chunk. Posthumously pardoned by Pennsylvania Governor Milton Shapp in 1979 after historical review found the trials deeply flawed.

John Kehoe was an Irish-born miner, tavern owner, and prominent AOH leader in the Tamaqua area of Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. He was widely regarded as the leading figure ("King") of the Molly Maguires in the region.
